Indian Student Parliament Selection Process

The Indian Student Parliament has been proposed and is being brought into being, with the main objective of exposing the young student leaders to the real world, and help them in gaining useful experience through interaction with some of the experts from various sectors. The Indian Student Parliament will not only encourage the leadership abilities in students, helping students from all parts of the country to work as one, towards the betterment of our nation, but also help in introducing new, innovative and fresh ideas in the society, something which we can see is sorely needed there!

The selection procedure for the Indian Student Parliament is a fairly simple one, if one looks at it. This process is truly very transparent, leaving no space for manipulations and cheating. The students from each college will be organized into what is known as a Student Council (SC). The Student Council, represents the students of the said college in the university, to which it is affiliated. The student council, has its own office-bearers, namely- the General Secretary and the Joint Secretary. There is also a University Representative (UR) for a university, chosen from the colleges affiliated to it.

These elected or nominated students are expected to participate in all kinds of “Social work” like community work and several other activities. The students will be exposed to the problems as well as ideas and conceptual insights in various fields, like academics, media and entertainment, social work as well as politics, through interactions with experts like Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, Dr. Narayan Murthy, Dr. Kiran Bedi and many others.
